Hey lovelies,
I'm sharing my top 3 beauty masks on the blog today!

1. By far the coolest and best in depth mask was the Double Dare pictured above. This mask has several steps included in applying it and the bubble mask is way too cool to put into words. Once you try it then you will totally understand.  Also the mask is pretty intense so make sure you do not put any portion of the mask on your eyebrows or hair lol. I made that mistake that first time I applied it and will never do that again lol!
Link to purchase it's under  $

2. Glamglow Gravity Mud mask is great as well. This mask is actually one of the top selling masks for Glam glow and is available for purchase at Sephora! Although its a bit pricey it's well worth it! I love the way it tingles on my face when I apply it that way I can tell it's working!

This is the link for the mask as well (

3. Sheamoisture African Soap Clarifying Mud Mask is pretty great as well! I previously used the African Soap as a cleaning option when I use heavy makeup as I have dry skin so it seemed to make my skin tightened so I switched to a different cleanser but this mask is ah-mazing for clarifying! It can be purchased at Wal-Mart & Wal-Greens.
The link is below for shopping as well. (

Also make sure you have a great quality cleanser and moisturizer& serum once you have applied the face mak. Just after you apply the face masks your face feel vulnerable so make sure it's project hydrated as well!
My top pick for the serum is Estee Lauder as its a great concentration and high quality for the price!

Yall let me know what y'all think of my list and some of your favorite face masks as I'm happy to get new masks as well!

*Affiliate Links are used in the post but the opinions are of my own and this is not sponsored post but a review of my top 3 favorite face masks!*

Deals & Best Time to buy!!...πŸ’ƒπŸΎπŸ’ƒπŸΎπŸ’ƒπŸΎ

If you know me then you know that I'm a big bargain shopper! When I was younger I used to go thrifting as I loved trying out new trends and old classic trends as well. Like the big grandfather blazer paired with rolled up jeans &  a white get the gist. This is when I fell in love with fashion as I really able to try to transform clothing not meant for me but able to sew it and alter the pieces perfectly for me!

My favorite memory is when I transformed  xxl bright red floral 🌷🌷 jumpsuit into a gorgeous blouse!! Yasss yall I was wearing that blouse PROUDLY all summer long!an

Okay so back to the deals and steals post since you know my history of bargain shopping.  So today I'm going to go over the best items to buy based on the month! As it's currently the beginning of the year I am going to post about the first quarter of the year and then do a followup for the remainder of the quarters. As I worked in retail for almost 4 years in college and high school at one of the major chains it not only renewed my interest in bargain shopping but also made it where I understood the true value of clothing as well.

#Makeup Monday

Hey loves I am going over the importance of knowing your skin type. Your skin type will determine the type of cleaner you should use and the moisturizer to clean and hydrate your skin with.
Below I have the steps to actually test what kind of skin type you have. Its possible for your skin to change with life events and even the seasons so I recommend a test be done once every 2 years or so.

Supplies needed:

A. Cleanser you currently use
B. Tissue or blot paper
C. Hour timer!

1st Step
Remove all of your makeup with makeup remover cleaner or wipes.

2nd Step
Wash your face with a cleanser and let air dry for about an hour!

3rd Step-HOUR'S UP!
Once the hour is up go back and use blotting paper or tissue paper and place it on your dry face.

4th Step-RESULTS
Assess if there is any excess oil on the tissue
If there is any excess oil then you have oily skin.
If there is only oil on your t-zone (forehead & nose or cheeks) then you have combination skin type.
Also see if you have any flakiness or irritation as you could have sensitive skin.
If there is no excess oil but your skin feels tight you have dry skin.
Lastly if there is no excess oil and your skin feels supple you have normal skin! Congrats this is the lowest maintenance type.

There is a much quicker test called the "pinch test"!
Once you pinch your skin if it feels smooth then you have oily skin and if it has wrinkles you have dry or combination skin.

Now that you know your skin type there are certain tips you should keep in mind to cater to your skin type and to not hurt but help your skin. The main reason I wrote this post as I have several friends who did not know their skin type growing up and as a result they were not using the correct products which in turn caused them to breakout even more.
One of my friends was using a moisturizer for dry skin not realizing she has oily skin which in turn caused her to break out even more!
So this is muy importante!!

Sensitive Skin- I have sensitive skin sometimes and if I change ONE product in my skin regimine it will cause me to have a reaction so I always check the ingredients to see if there are any active agents that will cause a breakout!
* It's recommended to use fragrance-free cleansers and products as your skin is sensitive and the fragrance additives can cause the adverse reactions!

Oily Skin- This skin type is highly likely to be  more acne-prone.
*Try to stay away from heavy creams as it can cause too much moisture. So it's great to use gel cleansers that won't add extra moisture.
Also I suggest you to avoid alcohol and certain cleansers that can dry out your skin too much.  Witch hazel works miracles as well!!
Also skin moisturizers with grapeseed oil is beneficial as well.

Dry Skin-This is my main skin type and with the winter weather it does not help with my current skin dryness.
*The main key to keeping your skin supple is to add moisture. Adding some type of moisturizer serum is helpful as well as you want to try to lock in the moisture.

Combo: This is where your skin can have a combo of types on your face. A very common misconception is that you can't mix moisturizers but according to dermatologists it's quite okay to mix it. So it's best to target certain areas with different types!

Last but not least it is recommended to use a great Sunscreen to protect all of that hardwork you put into your skin. Choose a sunscreen formula that agrees with your skin type as well!!

Okay beauties I hope all of this info has been helpful and will help you have a firm foundation to build your makeup regimine on!!

Rest Rest Rest & More rest

This past week has been so busy and I actually had to take the time to rest. As I have actually been sick for almost the entire weekend I'm so glad I did. There is so much power in listening to your body when it's spent.
Me and Michael were able to go away for the weekend for a change of scenery and I'm so glad we did. It's funny cause we planned this weekend  ahead of time so that we would be refreshed for the next couple of weeks and not get burned out but the first day I was already there and sick as well. But the rest of the weekend was better after that.

But I say this to say make sure YOU take time to rest and refill your soul. I have a list below of small things we can do to refill our cup ☕☕

1. Take a soothing bubble bath!
*Bonus: Add essential oils or bath salt after a busy day*
- A soothing bath gives you time to recharge and literally soothes your body.

2. Listen to your favorite music while doing a kick was workout!
- I know this may seem unexpected but this will allow you to be physically in touch with your body. And baby those endorphins though πŸ˜₯

3. Drink a cup of tea☕πŸ’•πŸ’•
- this will encourage you to slow down and really think about your day.
*Bonus: Try lavender, Green or Chamomile tea to relax.
** Double Bonus: With each sip you take try to list something you are thankful for with each sip!.... talking about some grateful tea!

4. Do an activity that brings you peace and doesn't require much brain activity.
Example: Cleaning the dishes, washing the windows, binge watching TV, flip through magazines, Pinterest(yass please)
-I  know some of them sound counter-productive but in actuality they are allowing you to mentally reset if you are overloaded. The cleaning aspect is a double pro

5. Talk it out!
This can be as simple as talking to your best friends or even a counselor and even a spouse. As an introvert I feel so much better if I can talk out my stress with a close confidante and someone who loves and supports me.
I heard it somewhere that when we surround ourselves with people that love us and KNOW us, that truly know us that can save us from sinking when we are surrounded my people that don't know our depths!

Hope Everyone has a great week & thanks for all of the love & support!

Today I had planned on doing a Makeup Monday post but last minute decided that I would honor one of my favorite leaders Martin Luther King Jr on MLK day!

Today is actually his birthday which is most fitting that this year marks 50 years since his assassination as well. I personally grew up learning about all of the injustices that African Americans have experienced in the past 200 years let alone during the Civil Rights movement. During this time period so many people experienced such horrendous and heinous crimes that majority of the perpetrators didn't even have justice for performing.

But those crimes and times were not anything I had ever experienced on my own but knew of from my family members and ancestors. But I still am and was eternally grateful for them and their sacrifices so that I could experience the liberties and amazing opportunities I could experience today.
I was the first one in my family to graduate from college while being the eldest of 9 children in a low-income family.

I say this not to boast but to exemplify that my ancestors and all of the amazing leaders during the Civil Rights movement were able to pave the way with resilience and perseverance that the injustices they experienced they did not want they're children and grandchildren to experience.......

Fast forward to today in 2018.....
Where majority of the minority citizens in this country have felt that they're elected leader does not hold the same principals and ethics that we hold so dear. Which I didn't realize I took for granted until the election last year. But I digress.....

My main point of this post is to encourage everyone to be more aware and to take conscious and actionable steps  when they see injustice. Speak up!
As I believe it doesn't have to be a big group of people standing up for a cause but just 1. ONE. One person can make a difference... Ask Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His dream and tenacity alone has forever changed my whole life's trajectory in comparison to what a young African American's woman life would have been like 50 years ago!!

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere!-Martin Luther King Jr.

Also if you have not seen the GOOGLE logo you have to check it out! I love it and its so beautiful!!

Today on the blog I am going over my workout from today! I actually did something different and decided to do a  deep stretch yoga workout as a way to stretch out my limbs!  I personally have practiced yoga for the past 5 years and I love it!  I started it during college and it has made a world of difference in my life.

But let me warn you that this is not an easy practice and you better stretch and be mentally prepared for yourself to experience a slow burn and slow buildup to a good workout. It's not necessarily a lot of cardio like with my runs but it is a buildup of your flexibility.  Besides the positive physical aspects of yoga there is substantially positive mental characteristics as well!

Stephen Richards says that if you can control your mind then you can change your life. To control your mind control your breath.

This alone shows how important your breathing can be to your overall #success. It's enlightening to think that your breathing can have so much importance.

For me personally this week has been tough as I have had several growing pains this week that has caused me to become overwhelmed and not able to be as present as I would like to be.

But today's yoga session reminded me of the importance of being in the moment & also gave me the clarity and peace that I needed. If you haven't tried yoga before I highly recommend it and listed below I have a listing of 3 beginner yoga videos you can try!

Deep Stretch Yoga:

Early Morning Yoga:

Yoga for Stress Relief:

I like Adriene's videos because she explains everything really well and her pup is adorable!   🐢 Ellie my little pup is not as tame as her pup is. Ellie always interrupts me and sits on the mat when I'm mid-pose lolπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

* Bonus Yoga Music if you want to create your own routine *

But Remember when you can control your mind you can change your life. In order to change your mind you have to control your breathe!

Makeup Monday

Today's Makeup Monday focuses on my top 5 beauty products from 2017 that I will definitely be using into 2018

I. Edge Control by Style Sexy Hair

This edge control I actually discovered it through my hairstylist and I was a little  reluctant to try it as is this icy blue color! Say what??  But it comes out blue but it doesn't stay that color! This had  my edges on fleek for almost 2 days without having to reapply it! Seriously!!

I discovered the Primer earlier this year from a Ipsy bag I got and absolutely love it as it adds nutrients to my lashes. It makes me feel like it's making them healthy while making hem beautiful!
While the L'OrΓ©al  Paradise Mascara is a new hit as I have been using a different type by L'OrΓ©al the falsies style for years and this new style did not disappoint!

3. The Micellar Wipes are my go to after a photo shoot as they just wipe off all of the contouring and highlighter I have used! It doesn't smell bad either as I have very sensitive skin and so I have to be mindful of this! If you have sensitive skin you may want to check it out!

4. This Mikasa Makeup Brush kit is πŸ”₯πŸ”₯!! I have used them this whole year and can't believe I hadn't used them sooner! They make a big difference in my makeup application!
FYI-if you use my discount code BRIGHTLYSOO25 you can get 25% off. I  also not saying this because I am an affiliate but because they are quality brushes and have made a world of difference with my makeup application!! πŸ’‹πŸ’‹

5. EstΓ©e Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Serum has been a key product to keeping my dark circles  under control. Everyone has a different genetic disposition to dark circles and in my family majority of us have them! This has helped me out this year quite a bit!
I first got a bottle of it when I purchased it with a gift set around the holidays and got an amazing deal of a gift set! I am grateful I took the chance and purchased it as it was all worth it!!

This is a list of my TOP 5 Beauty finds of 2017 and I'm still using today in 2018!

#fashionforward friday

Recapping today on the blog how one of my dreams came true this past year!πŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ
I have always wanted to do a photo shoot with a boutique and I was able to accomplish this goal last year with the help of my #stylecollective sister Kailey Munoz for her fabulous #fashionboutique @Threadheads_apparel!
Several of my blogger friends were able to participate and we had so much fun showing off our fiercenessπŸ’ƒπŸΎπŸ’ƒπŸΎ

I feel like it's so amazing when bloggers are able to work together and accomplish Big things!!
Check out some of the photos from the shoot as the photographers were top notch and the location was litπŸ”₯πŸ”₯ lol
But this is an example of one of my New Years Resolutions this year of working with and collabing with other bloggers!  There is so much power in working together as we all have strengths and weaknesses but when we stand together we are much more powerful and impactful!!
Also if you are interested in joining Style Collective which is a group of amazing women bloggers who focus on #womenempoweringwomen click here! I know for me it has made a world of difference in my blogging and motivation to be apart of such an amazing organization that encourages growth!

So if you can do one thing today to help a friend or fellow blogger out today I highly recommend it as I know bloggers and entrepreneurs appreciate any support and it is easy to be discouraged as a creator!

Lastly I'm so excited for the year ahead πŸ’ƒπŸΎπŸ’ƒπŸΎand stay tuned this weekend for several of my top beauty finds for 2017 & a look back& look ahead (New Years Resolutions) Post!

Til then,

Today's workout was supa tough!! I literally haven't worked out in almost 2 weeks because of the cold cold cold❄❄ weather and holiday season! But no excuses can explain how hard it was to get back in the groove of things!

So tonight I ran 35 minutes on the treadmill which was interesting to say the least. Since I haven't ran in awhile my feet were tensing up on the first half mile and eventually  they loosened up. Once that happened it got a lot easier.

The second portion was good. I did 175 situps and 75 toe touches in the air to help my core. Which is apart of my new years resolutions. Getting those abs baby!πŸ‘Œ Haha I'm kidding but really though! I have always wanted flat abs consistently. So that's one of my goals!

Last portion was about 10 minutes on the stairmaster. This was pretty short for me as I needed to get another 500 steps and so that worked perfectly instead of a longer workout.
Overall it was an okay workout have had much better workout before but I gotta start somewhere if l want to accomplish my goal and knockout the half marathon this year!

🎢Top 5 Songs on Playlist Tonight🎢
1. Fancy by Drake & Swiss Beats
2. Downtown by Mackelmore
3. *Run up by Nicki Minaq*- Perfect to start workout and help me get back in the groove and speed up my tempo on the run
4. Work on It by Alicia Keys
5. Morning by Marc E. Bassy

Tuesday Shoesday

Earlier on Instagram I had a list of my top 5 Over the Knee boots choices!

These links are currently on my instastories and listed below as well!
Asos pair-(left corner) Dark brown pair(really good deal under $30) Bottom Left pair are from Steve Madden And the Splurge worthy pair are from Stuart Weisman and I have found several dupes to this style and will be posting about those on a separate post
Several are priced really well and I currently wear the Target shiny black pair( that are currently sold out) almost twice a week as I love the style and convenience of the over the knee!

Sometimes it reminds me of a classy and trendy version of Pretty Woman's boots! Probably shouldn't say that but its a classic and I love that movie lol
But so excited for the week and year ahead as I feel like the day is buzzing with excitement as we all embark on the new year!
I will be sharing some of my Resolutions this week so stay tuned!!

Peace & Love to you and yours!
