Rick Perry and his "Niggerhead"

These links are about the controversy about the naming of Rick Perry's hunting grounds called "Niggerhead".
Also the below video features the View discussing their take on the whole ordeal.
Personally I find the word very offensive and the fact that the Govenor of Texas had it named for his hunting grounds even when he was elected govenor shows to me that he doesnt care about how it will be percieved to others and people of the black community. It makes me ashamed to be a Texan.

Dogs Who Look Like Their Owners. Get Your Pet Website!

Resemblance between Pets and Their Owners

Do pets resemeble their owners?
Yesterday I received a picture message from my little sister depicting my father sleeping and our little kitten Apple sleeping next to him. The resembleance between the two is very hilaarious I must say. The picture inspired me to look deeper into the subject and my findings were quite surprising. Anahad O'Connor wrote a article in the New York Times providing evidence of this claim. There have been studies done where subjects in a study are asked to match the pets with their owners and over half of them were able to match the pet photos with their respective owners. The main factor that the subjects were using to connect them was the personalities of the pets and the owners. Research says that the owners are more likely to pick a certain pet based on their resmeblance to their own personality. Do you think pets and their owners are similar? You be the judge

English 1123 Post 1

On Sunday evening I watched an episode of the CBS show "Cold Case". The show is about investigators who open up cold cases, unsolved cases, and solve them based on new information that has been brought forward. Ive seen many of these episodes in the past couple of years but I never expected it to become reality. But on Tuesday morning according to a New Jersey man by the name of Philander Hampton had pleaded guilty to to murdering 5 teenagers in 1978. These crimes took place over 33 years ago. Hampton confessed to the police department of his actions about 3 years ago. Hampton confessed to killing the young teenagers with his cousin Lee Evans by luring them into a house and then setting it on fire and brutally killing them. Hampton tried to have his confessions barred based on legal grounds but the judge of the case state Superior Court Judge Patricia Costello had ruled against Hampton and said that the confessions would be able to be used in the case. The evidence made a great difference in causing the plantiff to being found guilty of murdering the young teens. This is an example of justice being served. Even though the crimes took place over 33 years ago the friends and families of those that were murdered can finally have peace and closure about their deaths and the man who did the murders has come forth and he will recieve his punishment.
